What is the Best Age for a Facelift?

Apr 9, 2019 | Face, Facelift, Plastic Surgery | 0 comments

Facelift procedures are the gold standard when it comes to facial rejuvenation in aging adults. The procedure can effectively reverse visible signs of aging and restore more youthful contours. However, every patient ages differently. Genetics, sun exposure, smoking, and other lifestyle habits can all play a role in how quickly our face ages.

Dr. Bryan Correa routinely performs facelift procedures for both men and women. While men often feel they look ‘stern’ or ‘tired,’ women often like to ‘turn back the clock.’ Regardless of your goals, Dr. Correa will help determine which approach will best accomplish them. A facelift procedure can have a powerful impact on your appearance

While patients of many ages request a facelift, Dr. Correa believes there are much stronger indicators that determine a patient’s candidacy for a facelift. Let’s take a look at some factors Dr. Correa takes into consideration before customizing a treatment plan.

#1: You are a Healthy Adult

A facelift is a surgical procedure that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Patients should be in otherwise good health both physically and mentally. The ideal candidate for the procedure will be one with a clean bill of health and realistic expectations. Dr. Correa will perform a series of routine health exams and blood work to ensure you’re a good fit for the procedure.

#2: You are a Non-Smoker

Not only can smoking age the skin but it can prolong the healing process after surgery. Patients who currently smoke should prepare to quit at least 6-weeks before surgery and throughout the recovery process. Dr. Correa also encourages patients to stop smoking entirely to preserve the outcome of their procedure and to prevent further damage.

#3: You Understand Your Aesthetic Goals

The primary focus during your consultation is to identify your goals and how to best achieve them. Often a facelift is the right answer, but frequently there are other things such as skin care or injectables that will make your result even better. Dr. Correa is available to help you reach your aesthetic goals whatever they may be.
