How Long After Pregnancy Can I Get A Mommy Makeover?

May 23, 2019 | Body, Mommy Makeover, Plastic Surgery | 0 comments

A mommy makeover can be a game-changing procedure for women who are unhappy with their post-pregnancy figure. However, it’s important that you allow your body enough time to bounce back after pregnancy and breastfeeding beforehand. Pushing yourself too hard too soon can prolong the healing process making you miss out on much-need time with your baby.

Dr. Bryan Correa is skilled mommy makeover surgeon and a board-certified plastic surgeon. He understands the complexities of the procedure and with careful planning, helps women regain the contours of their past. Dr. Correa will help you enjoy the next stage of motherhood with newfound confidence before you know it.

What Goes Into A Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a loose term for a collection of procedures designed to reverse changes that occur due to having children. The procedures may include anything from breast and body work to even dermal fillers or vaginal rejuvenation. The top three surgical procedures requested include breast enhancement, liposuction, and tummy tucks.

Breast Enhancement

While every woman is unique, Dr. Correa typically suggests waiting for at least 6-months after pregnancy before undergoing breast enhancement. Women who opt to breastfeed should wait until 6-months after nursing for their breasts to regain their natural size and stop producing milk.

Liposuction Procedures

Women should be close to their ideal weight before undergoing liposuction. In most cases, liposuction can be done about 6-months following pregnancy. Liposuction can be done on the hips, thighs, buttocks, flanks, and abdomen to restore your pre-pregnancy contours.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

Tummy tucks are a slightly more invasive procedure. Depending on how quickly you recover from childbearing, you may be able to have a tummy tuck done within 6-12 months. Women who have had c-sections may need to wait longer than those who’ve had traditional births.

What’s Right for Me?

No two women recover from childbearing in the same way. In fact, the same woman may have a completely different experience after her second birth. While some may be ready for a mommy makeover as early as 4-months, another may need upwards of 1-year to feel comfortable taking the time for adequate recovery.

Dr. Correa works with countless women to restore their natural contours according to their individual needs. During your in-person consultation, Dr. Correa will evaluate your concerns and speak with you about your goals before customizing a treatment plan to effectively meet them.
