HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?
Microneedling with SkinPen by Bellus Medical is a newer procedure in which our licensed Aesthetician, Susie, uses a tool equipped with very thin, shallow needles to invigorate the epidermis and dermis. This procedure triggers collagen production, reducing the appearance of acne scars, crow’s feet and sagging skin. It even opens up the pores to prevent further damage. Microneedling is done in-office by our esteemed partner Susie who specializes in advanced facial treatments.
Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.
IS MICRONEEDLING RIGHT FOR YOU?
Microneedling is ideal for patients in good general health with no active infections or conditions that may prevent the skin from healing. If you’re not quite ready for surgery and injections but want a safe, effective anti-aging treatment or skin damage reversal, our team at The Woodlands Plastic Surgery can help you to decide whether or not microneedling is the right option for your aesthetic goals.
While the targeted results will be achieved over several sessions, patients report seeing results in just one visit. Patients report smaller pore size, greater absorption of serums, a healthy skin glow, and the minimization of scars and stretch marks. Susie recommends combining with a good skin regimen, so patients can expect the results to last longer.
Is There Downtime?
Patients can expect the initial recovery to be quick and relatively painless compared to other procedures, usually with an hour or so of downtime. Our specialist will provide you with detailed preparation and aftercare instructions on your first consultation and throughout the treatment.
