How to Prepare for a Breast Augmentation

by | Oct 26, 2018 | Breast Augmentation | 0 comments

Breast enhancement surgeries can restore your natural contours after pregnancy or boost the size of the breasts you were naturally given. Having a breast augmentation can be a life-changing experience for many women. However, it is a surgical procedure that requires a decent amount of preparation to ensure an optimal outcome without complications.

A little planning ahead can save you a lot of stress and grief during your recovery. Take a look at a few simple things you can do to prepare for your upcoming breast augmentation.

One Month Before Surgery

Stop smoking at least 1-month before your breast augmentation.
This includes all forms of nicotine as well as marijuana. Smoking can impede the healing process and should be avoided through the recovery period.

Two Weeks Before Surgery

Schedule a ride home from your surgery from a trusted friend or family member.
Remember, you won’t be able to lift anything over 10-pounds initially so having a helping hand around the house can be beneficial for childcare and pet care.

Blood tests and lab work should be completed and turned into Dr. Correa 2-weeks prior to surgery.

One Week Prior

Prepare your home for the recovery phase.
After your breast augmentation, even the smallest chores can seem daunting. Make and freeze easy to eat foods. Stock up on entertainment and prep a cozy recovery space.

Fill and begin taking any medications prescribed by Dr. Correa. Avoid alcohol consumption and any blood-thinning medications 1-week before your augmentation.

The Day Before Surgery

Pack a light bag of essential items that will help you transition after your surgery.
A bottle of water, a snack, keys, cell phone, cash/wallet, and loose-fitting clothing are good examples of things to pack.

Get plenty of sleep and avoid food or water starting at midnight the night before surgery. Hygiene products such as creams, lotions, or deodorant should not be used after your evening shower.

Day-Of Surgery

On the day of your surgery, you’ll need to prepare to arrive early for final paperwork and pre-operative preparations. You should also confirm that you will have someone to take you home and stay with you for at least 48-hours post-surgery as general anesthesia wears off.

Dr. Correa will talk to you about your pre and post-operative care in-depth before your scheduled augmentation.
