When you arrive for facial fillers, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and all makeup in the treatment area will need to be removed. Depending on the treatment you will receive, you will be given a topical anesthetic or simply have ice applied to the treatment area. Some fillers don’t require any pretreatment. After the skin is ready, the filler will be injected. There may be a slight sensation of stinging or warmth which goes away relatively quickly. If there is any redness or slight swelling, you may have a cold pack applied for 15 to 30 minutes while in the office. Usually, you can reapply makeup after the treatment and return to your normal activities.

Before

You will be asked to refrain from exercising on the day of treatment or possibly longer to minimize any swelling or bruising that might occur. The area shouldn’t be touched or massaged for several days unless the type of filler you received requires some massaging for a few days. You will be given full instructions on what to do following the treatment and whether or not follow up treatments are recommended to get the full effect you are seeking.
