Although many of the same attributes apply to all patients seeking breast augmentation – e.g. otherwise good health, realistic expectations, stable breast size and shape, a good understanding of the risks of surgery – there are special considerations in the setting of Scoliosis. For example, if you have a history of previous rib cage or spinal surgery or an appreciation of the existing rib cage asymmetries.
IMPLANT SELECTION
Although the same implants can be used in patients with Scoliosis, it requires a heightened awareness and experience to ensure the most symmetric result possible is obtained – often this requires using implants in unique combinations that wouldn’t be used in someone without Scoliosis – for example using implants of different profiles or dimensions in the same patient, in order to counterbalance the asymmetries due to their spine or rib cage..
