An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes fat and excess hanging skin from the upper arms. During the procedure, the underlying contour of the arm is tightened creating a smooth, slender upper arm. Aging, genetics and weight fluctuations are the most common causes of sagging upper arms. If you’re looking for a high-quality arm lift, Dr. Correa can help you..

The incisions are placed according to the judgment of the surgeon based on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed. Any excess fat can be removed either by direct excision or liposuction. Following this, the skin is then tightened and contoured and the incisions will be closed. There are several different types of incisions utilized depending upon the severity of arm excess. Incisions are placed in the best location to minimize the scars that will be visible, although as time passes, the incisions usually improve and become less noticeable.

An arm lift from Dr. Correa will tighten the loose skin under the arm and restore a more slender and balanced contour. To look better in form fitting clothes and be unafraid to expose the upper arms can be a boost to your self-confidence and image. In cases of massive weight loss, the excessive amount of redundant skin on the upper arms can diminish the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that your new, healthy weight should provide. Dr. Correa has seen a number of patients in this position and through the relatively simple procedure of an arm lift, has restored their upper arms to a size that is proportionate to the rest of their body.

This procedure can be done as an outpatient at Dr. Correa’s surgical center of choice. The surgery takes about 1-2 hours and once you have recovered from the anesthetic you can go home to recover. You will wear a compression garment to minimize swelling. You will be given full instructions on managing your incisions and will have pain medication to keep you comfortable. Most people can return to work after a week and can return to exercising and more strenuous activities in 4 to 6 weeks. Scarring will fade as time goes on but you will enjoy the benefit of slimmer upper arms within a few weeks. The results are very long lasting as long as your weight remains stable.
*Individual results may vary.

Anyone who is unhappy with their upper arms can benefit from a brachioplasty as long as they are in good general health, and have a stable weight. Dr. Correa will be happy to meet with you to discuss your concerns so he can make a recommendation on treatment.
People who have lost a massive amount of weight find that there is a great deal of excess skin that will not respond to any exercise regimen. The excess skin must be removed surgically to correct the shape of the arm. Exercise will tone the underlying muscle but in the presence of excess skin, unfortunately, that effort will go unnoticed.
In cases where the skin has good elasticity and the amount of sagging is minimal, arm liposuction may be all that is needed to tighten the upper arm.

Dr. Correa’s Philosophy on

Arm Lifts

“The Houston summers can be hot and are no time for long sleeves. Unfortunately, some patients are self-conscious about their arms and summer can be an uncomfortable and long season. Thankfully, brachioplasty or liposuction can often fix this problem with minimal downtime and reliable outcomes.”
